2015 Most Influential Women Honoree: Diana Day

Posted online

The Queen City is special to Diana Day, and she’s driven to find as many people as possible who agree with her.

“In our community, I have taken on a personal challenge to focus my involvement on attracting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce, which in turn creates more businesses and jobs in Springfield,” says Day, business manager at People Centric Consulting Group LLC. “I love Springfield, and I want Springfield to be a place that people want to come to live, work and play.”

Day seeks leadership roles both at work and in the community. She believes no matter what you are doing or what position you are in, you are leading someone.

“That can be either good or bad, positive or negative, but you are always leading,” she says. “And while my leadership roles are generally more concrete, I take that concept with me anywhere I go and portray that in all areas of my life.”

At People Centric, Day is part of the big-picture plans that include things such as vision and goals as well as the day-to-day operations, such as human resources and client contact.

“I am so fortunate to have had as many successes as I have had, and I am positive that my proudest moment is yet to come,” she says. “People Centric is doing amazing things — developing a strong workforce in Springfield, empowering and engaging employees throughout many organizations, installing intuitive processes for communications and innovation, and maintaining and protecting our values internally as we grow.

“We established a corporate vocation to allow everyone on our staff to give back to the community in ways they feel passionate about.”

Day was both thrilled and humbled to be one of three finalists for the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Young Professional of the Year Award, and she intends to continue working to enhance how companies do business. In fact, influencing others in business is what her company does. People Centric works with businesses to create change, forward momentum and motivate people.

“It is the best job in Springfield,” Day says. “I get the honor to not only change how a business works and watch them grow, but change how people within that business think.

“We are developing our workforce, attracting and retaining talent in and to Springfield, developing leaders and changing the way we do business in the Ozarks.”

Day’s busy schedule outside of work extends into many areas of the community. She’s a member of the Springfield chamber, belongs to its group for young professionals, The Network, and serves on The Network’s diversity crew. Day also sits on the Springfield Symphony Orchestra board and belongs to the city’s Citizens Advisory Committee for Community Development.

She recently completed her first term as vice president of the board for the Springfield March of Dimes, and she is secretary for the Rountree Neighborhood Association.
