One-time Ebbets Field owner Lance Reeves opened Phase 2 restaurant Jan. 27 at 2627 E. Sunshine St. Reeves purchased the building in October for an undisclosed amount from John Dunlop and Brian Dodds, who had operated McSalty’s Pizza Cafe. Prepared by chef Dave Ponder, Phase 2 offers daily soups, such as mushroom sage and tomato basil, “luxury” burgers and sandwiches. On the dinner menu, Ponder serves steak filet and pasta dishes. Phase 2 also serves beer and wine. Since selling Ebbets Field in 2010, Reeves has said he’s invested in real estate locally and in Oklahoma.

Haute Tot Upscale Kids Resale LLC
Hannah King and Robin Hall opened Haute Tot Upscale Kids Resale LLC on Jan. 28 at 1304 E. Republic Road. The store carries kids’ clothes from premature to size 16 for boys and girls, in such brands as Matilda Jane, Gap, Gymboree, Old Navy and Mustard Pie. Haute Tot also sells shoes, toys and baby items, King said. With most products purchased from customers, prices usually are below $20, but some higher-end items range from $40 to $60, King said. The business partners signed a three-year lease for 2,400 square feet with property owner John Haik. King declined to disclose startup costs.

Sole Traction LLC
Sole Traction LLC started operations Dec. 5 in Republic offering Nano-Grip’s nonslip technology in Missouri. Owner Drew Frank discovered the flooring application in an article online, and flew to Orlando, Florida, to make the $10,000 investment as an authorized business partner with Nano-Concepts. With the Nano-Grip product applied, he said mineral-based surfaces that get slippery when wet become safer – with no discernible change to the look or dry feel of a floor, tub or other surface. The installation costs $1.50 per square foot. Sole Traction, which is a mobile business, currently is Nano-Grip’s only authorized partner in Missouri. Kirk’s Collision Center in Republic is Frank’s first customer.
