Architecture
Layne Hunton of Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc. earned his Missouri architect license, and R.G. Foster was hired by the firm. Hunton has worked as a BRP design team member since 2015. Foster, a licensed architect, has a 45-year career in area architecture.

Education
The Missouri School Board Association honored Springfield Public Schools’ Board of Education with the 2017 Outstanding Board of Education Award. The SPS board’s highest rankings were in quality learning environments and technology, but other core criteria areas for the award included safety and security, environmental practices, community use of facilities and long-range facility planning.

Evangel University marketing major Meredith Kyle was named Knapp Enactus Student Leader during the Enactus National Exposition in Kansas City. She received a $2,500 scholarship for her teamwork and communication skills.

Government
Lt. Gov. Mike Parson appointed West Plains’ Ward Franz as chief of staff and Ozark’s Randy Wright as marketing and tourism director in his Jefferson City office. Franz most recently worked as executive director of the Ozarks Medical Center Foundation and spent eight years as a state representative for Howell County. Wright was chief of staff for former Sen. Norma Champion and has served on the Ozark aldermen board and as mayor pro-tem.

Health Care
CoxHealth received the American Heart Association’s Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized guidelines.

Hospitality
Branson’s Best Western Music Capital Inn was awarded the Best Western’s International Director’s Award. The property scored in the top 20 percent in cleanliness and maintenance out of 2,100 North American Best Westerns.

Media
Kyle Troutman of the Monett Times and Cassville Democrat was named 2017 William E. James Missouri Outstanding Journalist by the Missouri Press Association. He has worked for the Cassville Democrat since 2014 and serves as editor of both publications.

Nonprofit
Junior League of Springfield selected the recipients of its Building Better Communities scholarship: Amber Crockett, Bailey Grace, Jayme Kim, Amy Lance, Jaclyn Malik, Roeshia Rosenau, Jaclyn Shaw and Lauren Wilson. The award goes to women eligible to receive a degree or license upon graduation.

Also, Emily Richardson and Jamie Sampson received JLS’ Mary Riley Wolfe Memorial Scholarship, for volunteer service by young women.

Pearson-Kelly Office Products promoted Hollis Presley to new account executive for the Springfield area and hired Charles Johnston as customer support supervisor. Presley joined Pearson-Kelly in 2016, bringing three years of industry experience, and Johnston has 17 years of experience in software support.
