Who’s new on the chamber board?

Posted online
There are four new faces and three returning members to the 2017 Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

With no other nominations from the chamber’s general membership, the recommended slate of candidates from the directors nominating committee became official Oct. 17. Spokesman Jeremy Elwood said the chamber’s Oct. 4 candidate announcement to its general membership also opened the submittal period for any additional nominees by petition. Since no petitions were submitted by the Oct. 17 deadline, that is considered the same as a vote of approval by the general membership.

The new board members serving three-year terms starting Jan. 1 are:
    •    Catherine Bass, Bass Pro Shops;
    •    Mike Carroll, Andy’s Frozen Custard;
    •    Gary Leonard, Steak ‘N Shake; and
    •    Robin Robeson, Guaranty Bank.

Returning members serving three-year terms starting Jan. 1 are:
    •    Charity Elmer, CoxHealth;
    •    Frederick James, 3M Co.; and
    •    Marshall Kinne, Med-Pay, Inc.

“These seven directors represent a diverse range of industries, experience and backgrounds,” Chamber President Matt Morrow said in a news release. “They will bring important perspective and leadership to the chamber mission for the next three years.”

The directors nominating committee comprises a combination of current board members and representatives of other chamber members.

In addition, chamber bylaws allow incoming board chairman BKD LLP’s John Wanamaker to select additional ex-officio board members to serve one-year terms. Those selections will be announced by Jan. 1.

Currently comprising 30 people, directors dropping off the board in 2017 are:
    •    Cheryl Briggs, DermaHealth Laser Clinic;
    •    Bill Hammitt, American Products LLC;
    •    Tom Hilmes, CNH Industrial Reman LLC;
    •    Monte McNew, Springfield First Community Bank;
    •    David Ross, Morelock-Ross Builders Inc.;
    •    Paul Sundy, Big Whiskey's LLC;
    •    Bob Cirtin, Greene County Commission;
    •    Regina Cooper, Springfield-Greene County Library;
    •    Kim Hogan Chaffin, Hogan Land Title Co.;
    •    Joe Reynolds, Central States Industrial; and
    •    Clif Smart, Missouri State University.
