Hammons Products owner wins top Mo. chamber award

Posted online
The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry selected Brian Hammons, owner and president of Stockton walnut processing company Hammons Products Co., to receive its annual Leadership Missouri Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hammons is scheduled to be honored during the chamber’s annual banquet on Nov. 19 in Kansas City. Two local companies and four area legislators also are slated to be honored, according to a news release.

Launched in 1946, Hammons Products now processes around 24 million pounds of nuts each year. Hammons is the company’s third-generation president. He’s also served as a member of the Missouri State University Board of Governors and in member roles for Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Honored for dramatic growth during the past four years, two of the chamber’s Fast Track Awards will be presented to Do Outdoors Inc., the Springfield parent company of Lew's Fishing Tackle and Sportsmans Factory Outlet, and Phoenix Home Care Inc.

Last month, Do Outdoors held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new $3.5 million, 58,000-square-foot headquarters, 3031 N. Martin Ave.

Phoenix, which received top honors in the 1-5 years in operation category for SBJ’s 2015 Economic Impact Awards, posted 2014 revenue of $37.7 million.

Columbia-based Bluebird Network LLC also was chosen to receive a Fast Track honor. The company purchased SpringNet Underground from City Utilities in December and renamed it to Bluebird Underground. In August, the company announced plans to double the center’s data storage space.

The chamber selected four local legislators to receive Spirit of Enterprise Awards, which honor senators and representatives who advocate for business issues. Local recipients are:
    •    Sen. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield;
    •    Rep. Kevin Austin, R-Springfield;
    •    Rep. Sandy Crawford, R-Buffalo; and
    •    Rep. Jeffery Justus, R-Branson.
