Foundation gives $198K to 18 nonprofits

The Stanley & Elaine Ball Foundation today presented 18 nonprofits with $198,370 in grants.

The organizations were selected from 46 applications. The Ball Foundation is managed by Central Trust Co., according to a news release.

The recipients, by grant amount, are:
    •    $35,000 to Good Samaritan Boys Ranch;
    •    $21,370 to Equi-Librium Therapy Center;
    •    $10,000 apiece to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, Boy Scouts of America, Branson R-4 Education Foundation, Bridges for Youth, Children’s Smile Center, Council of Churches, Least Of These Inc., Isabel’s House, Ozarks Literacy Council, Ronald McDonald House, The Kitchen Inc., The Victim Center and Women in Need of the Ozarks;
    •    $7,500 to The Arc of the Ozarks;
    •    $4,000 to Wish I May; and
    •    $500 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield.

Stanley Ball, who died in March 2015 at 97, served as mayor of Branson, worked on the boards of several charitable organizations and was president of Community Foundation of the Ozarks’ first affiliate, the Nixa Community Foundation. He established the Ball Foundation in 2005 after his wife Elaine died to help those less fortunate in the community, according to the release.

The Ball Foundation contributed $500,000 this year to the Northwest Project, a partnership seeking to address poverty in the northwest Springfield Zone 1 district.
