Family Pharmacy employee accused of fraud

Posted online
A former Family Pharmacy employee is facing fraud allegations.

Sarah Symns, who worked in Ozark as executive assistant to owner Lynn Morris — who’s also a state representative — allegedly used a company credit card on nearly $16,000 worth of personal expenditures, according to a probable cause statement provided by the Christian County prosecuting attorney’s office.

A Springfield resident, Symns faces 17 charges, including fraudulent use of a credit card and forgery, according to an online summary at Courts.Mo.gov.

Following at least two incidents of suspicious activity, Family Pharmacy officials sat down with Symns in December after it was discovered she spent $7,277. Symns turned in the credit card and agreed to be suspended without pay until she could provide the receipts for her transactions. The investigation revealed several unlawful credit card charges at such stores at Wal-Mart, Studio 417 Salon, Bullseye and Bath & Body Works, according to the probable cause statement.
