Drury president’s former colleague picked as COO

Posted online
Drury University hired a former colleague of new President Timothy Cloyd as executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief information officer.

David Hinson succeeds Bill Scorse, who resigned earlier this month after eight years as CIO and vice president of administrative services, Drury spokesman Mike Brothers said via email. He said Scorse stepped down “to seek other opportunities” rather than being asked to leave. Brothers was unaware if he had taken a new job. Scorse, whose LinkedIn page does not list a new occupation, could not be reached for comment by deadline.

Hinson comes to Drury from the Yeshivah of Flatbush, a Jewish private school in Brooklyn, N.Y., for which he served as director of technology. Previously, he worked for three years as executive vice president and CIO at Hendrix College, when Cloyd was president of the Conway, Ark., school.

“We are committed to providing our students with a learning experience that sets them on the path for success, and that most certainly includes the intelligent integration of technology,” said Cloyd, who started July 1, in the release. “David’s visionary leadership in technology infrastructure will be critical to delivering on our commitment to providing students with a distinctive, best-in-class liberal arts education.”

Hinson and crew at Hendrix implemented a $450,000 technology upgrade, including the standardization of control platforms in each classroom, a tenfold increase in internet capacity and a 3-D printing initiative.

At Drury, Hinson is responsible for leading the planning and management of information infrastructure and software systems, as well as operations and facilities services, according to the release.
