Saudi Arabia slashes pay for top officials by 20%

Saudi Arabia is making new strides to plug a huge hole in its budget.

The country's government ministers will take a 20 percent pay cut. Members of the advisory body Shura council will lose 15 percent of their pay.

Saudia Arabia, which relies on oil for most of its revenue, in 2015 watched its budget deficit swell to nearly $100 billion.
