Poverty expert wins Nobel Prize for economics

Princeton University professor Angus Deaton has been selected for the 2015 Nobel Prize in economics.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the honor Monday, saying he would receive the award for his analysis of consumption, poverty and welfare.

Deaton, 69, has placed a research focus on health in both rich and poor countries, as well as on measuring poverty in India and around the world.
