Dow Jones Global Indexes closed 0.31 percent lower at 21,513.17 with a 52-week high of 21,681.53, and the S&P 500 Index closed 0.11 percent lower at 2,469.91 with a 52-week high of 2,477.62.
The Federal Reserve largely expected to keep interest rates unchanged, having hiked in their previous meeting.
