Mo. religious-freedom bill dies in committee

Senate Joint Resolution 39, the so-called religious freedom bill proposed for Missouri, yesterday failed in committee.

The 6-6 tie in committee means the bill won't be seen by the full House of Representatives.

Had it been passed by the legislature, the bill would have gone to voters, who would have decided whether to bar the government from imposing any penalty on those who oppose same-sex marriages.
