FCC cracks down on robocalls

The Federal Communications Commission yesterday passed a proposal to curb robocalls.

Robocall telemarketers use machines that call a list of phone numbers with pre-recorded pitch messages.

The new rules would give phone companies more power to block phone numbers from such telemarketers.

The rules still have to go through public review before a final vote that could be later this year.
