Darden Restaurants to buy Cheddar's for $780M

Olive Garden owner Darden Restaurants on Monday announced plans to buy Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen for $780 million.

Currently, Cheddar's is owned by a shareholder group that includes private equity firms L Catterton and Oak Investment Partners.

Cheddar's operates 165 restaurants in 28 states.
