California Attorney General Kamala Harris is investigating allegations that Wells Fargo engaged in criminal identity theft when the bank created millions of accounts without customer consent.
Harris reportedly is demanding from the company the identities and account information of California customers who had "any accounts, credit cards, life insurance, or other product or service" created without the customer's authorization.
A search warrant served Oct. 5 also seeks bank employee names who opened unauthorized accounts, as well as the identities of their managers and any recorded communication regarding the accounts.
