Burger King and McDonald’s may – temporarily – set aside their longtime fast-food rivalry in favor of supporting world peace.
The Restaurant Brands International Inc.-owned company reached out to McDonald’s Corp. with a recipe for the McWhopper – a sandwich that is equal parts Whopper and Big Mac.
The proposal calls for the hybrid burger to be sold only on Sept. 21 – World Peace Day – at a pop-up restaurant in Atlanta, located halfway between the two companies’ headquarters. Proceeds would benefit nonprofit world peace promotion organization Peace One Day.
