American Airlines Group Inc.'s earnings dropped 44 percent in the second quarter, largely due to a big provision for income tax.
The world's largest airline posted net income of $950 million, or $1.68 per share, in the quarter ended June 30, down from $1.7 billion, or $2.41 per share, a year earlier.
Provision for income tax surged to $543 million from $15 million.
