Amazon stock falls on disappointing profits

Amazon's stock fell as much as 7 percent in after-hours trading yesterday after the company announced lower-than-expected profits.

Third-quarter earnings were $252 million, or 52 cents per share. Analysts had predicted 78 cents per share.

The company's fourth-quarter earnings guidance also was lower than estimates.
