AT&T ramps up wireless service in Mexico

Dallas-based wireless giant AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) has shelled out $4.4 billion this year to acquire two Mexican wireless companies, Iusacell and Nextel Mexico.

This week, AT&T began rebranding those operations in Mexico, and a company representative says that process would be complete by the end of 2016, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Now, AT&T also plans to invest roughly $3 billion to expand its high-speed mobile service to 100 million people south of the border by the end of 2018. By the end of this year, the company expects to reach 40 million customers, and 75 million by the end of 2016.
