Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s (NYSE: WMT) fundraising division this morning issued Ozarks Food Harvest a grant for the seventh consecutive year.
The $125,000 award from the Wal-Mart Foundation matches the organization’s donation last year, according to a news release.
“It’s a great opportunity for our pantries and programs to obtain nutritious food with this grant money,” Ozarks Food Harvest President and CEO Bart Brown said in the release, noting every $1 donated to the nonprofit provides $10 worth of food.
With the money, Ozarks Food Harvest will issue dollar-for-dollar matching grants to 41 pantries and eight feeding sites in the Ozarks. The recipients have until March 1 to raise funds in their communities.
Since 2010, the Wal-Mart Foundation has contributed $634,900 to Ozarks Food Harvest for matching grants, according to the release.
