Springfield Public Schools’ sale of the former Hickory Hills School property and the purchase of the former ViaTech Publishing Solutions Inc. were among leading movers in real estate market tracker Xceligent’s second-quarter Market Trends report.

In May, SPS sold 15 acres at U.S. Highway 65 and Chestnut Expressway to Eau Claire, Wis.-based home improvement retailer Menards for $4 million. The company plans to open a store on the property, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

The Hickory Hills School was on the property until January 2010, when students moved to a newly constructed building at 4650 E. State Highway YY. SPS had contracted with developer Paul Larino, but his plans for a 46-acre development known as Hickory Hills Marketplace fell through.

Xceligent reports the industrial sector was impacted the most by the sale of the nearly 103,000-square-foot ViaTech building.

CCMC Properties LLC bought the 424 N. Cedarbrook Ave. property April 23 from New York-based D&H Missouri LLC.  CCMC Properties was organized in March 2013 by Coby Collins, of Rogersville, owner of Springfield-based OSHA compliance and training firm National Safety Compliance Inc.
