PCCC delivers second-largest donation total

Price Cutter Charity Championship officials yesterday presented $905,339 to 45 children’s charities in the Ozarks.

The amount is the second-highest in the tournament’s 27-year history. It beat last year’s total of $900,145 but fell below the 2013 record of over $1 million. With the latest donation, the tournament on the PGA’s Web.com Tour brings its donation total to $13.7 million, according to a news release.

“This tournament is the gold standard on the Web.com Tour,” said Dan Glod Glod, president of the PGA tour series, in the release. “The mission of the PGA Tour and Web.com Tour is to deliver as much money as we can to charities, and you are the leaders in the clubhouse.”

The funding was presented during the Celebration of Sharing ceremony hosted by the McQueary family at Highland Springs Country Club. Attendees included Glod, PCCC President and Executive Director Jerald Andrews and Hammons Foundation President and CEO Jacquie Dowdy.

The top five donations were:
    •    $78,120 to Mercy Kids;
    •    $63,579 to Burrell Child & Youth Services;
    •    $62,372 to Fellowship of Christian Athletes;
    •    $54,175 to Silver Dollar City Foundation; and
    •    $47,849 to Shriners Hospital Dads.

Next year’s PCCC is scheduled Aug. 10-13 at Highland Springs. This year, Canadian golfer Mackenzie Hughes took first place during the Aug. 11-14 tournament.
