Great Southern Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: GSBC) is building a new Springfield branch on West Battlefield Road to replace a nearby leased location.
Director of Retail Banking Kris Conley said the 1320 W. Battlefield Road branch is scheduled to open in November. Employees at the free-standing 1850 W. Battlefield Road branch in a Warren Davis Properties strip center lot will move to the new site.
“The obvious reason is it was just basically a block away from where we currently are,” Conley said of the new branch on land the company bought a year ago at Battlefield and Fort Avenue. “Our plan over the last several years is to try to get away from the leased locations.”
Conley said the 2,700-square-foot branch designed by Marshall-Waters-Woody and Associates Inc. is being built by Steve Huff of Steve Huff Homes LLC. Springfield Building Development Services Director Chris Straw said the estimated cost of the project is $600,000. The building site is across the street from Guaranty Bank’s headquarters. Guaranty
has plans to move its executives to Farmers Park.
Great Southern
