Great American Taco signs lease at Magers Crossing

Restaurateur Pat Duran’s fast-casual Great American Taco Co. signed on as a tenant at Randy Magers’ south-side Magers Crossing development, said Arch Watson of SVN Rankin Co. LLC.

The two-building development is under construction at 2150 W. Republic Road and 4216 S. Cox Ave. Watson said Great American Taco and a nail salon he declined to name are on board for the smaller, 11,300-square-foot building fronting Republic Road on the north end of the development.

“Those are the only two signed contracts,” Watson said. “We have several retailers and office users that we’re currently negotiating with.”

Watson said Great American Taco signed a lease for 3,600 square feet, but he was unsure when the restaurant would open. Duran could not be reached for comment by deadline. Great American Taco operates a Springfield restaurant at 2915 E. Battlefield Road and another in Bentonville, Arkansas, and also is selling franchises.

The two buildings at Magers Crossing together will comprise more than 42,000 square feet when it opens this fall, said Madeline Brown, spokeswoman for project architect H Design Group LLC. Larry Snyder & Co. is general contractor on the project that has an estimated cost of $3.5 million, according to city permits in the Building Development Services office.

Aerial footage of Magers Crossing on Larry Snyder & Co.’s website shows steel erected for the larger, 31,000-square-foot building facing Cox Avenue, and dirt work underway for the building to house Great American Taco.

Brown said the mixed-used development is planned with 10 retail storefronts, seven restaurant spaces and 10 offices.
