Church signs College Station lease

The Well Springfield Church of the Nazarene is relocating to College Station downtown after a year of services at DoubleTree Hotel.

The organization signed a three-year lease in September with College Station developer Scott Tillman for over 8,000 square feet. Its first services at 420 W. College St, Ste. 116, are scheduled to start on Feb. 26, said co-pastor Selena Freeman.

“Downtown is its own community, and we want to be connected to a community of people,” said Freeman, who leads the church with co-pastor Dylan Robinson and six volunteers. “We want to go to where the people are.”

Freeman said The Well expects to pay $8,000 a month in rent and utilities. Infill work was included with the lease, she said. The space includes a children’s area where screened volunteers will provide lessons and a 250-seat sanctuary. Freeman said while the church is open to all ages, two-thirds of the congregation is 28 years old or younger.

Affiliated with the international Church of the Nazarene, The Well’s congregation has grown to over 200 from 60 when it launched in February 2016 at the north-side hotel, Freeman said.
