AmeriPride: “Market Leading Quality” and Employee Satisfaction at AmeriPride

Not many corporations can say they’ve been around since 1889. Even fewer can say the same family has owned the company since the beginning. Linen and uniform services provider, AmeriPride, can say both. AmeriPride believes the key to its longevity has been the ability to adapt and change based on market needs.

AmeriPride Employees

AmeriPride makes huge investments in its employees, offering tuition reimbursement for those who want to further their education and scholarships for children of employees. There are also company-wide “Days of Service” where the entire team works together on a charity or volunteer project in the community. Most recently the Springfield team worked together to build a memorial garden at the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch.

Currently AmeriPride is looking to invest in some new faces. “We want to be the ‘Statue of Liberty’ employer for Springfield,” says General Manager Jay Rasmussen.

“If you’re willing to show up, work hard and demonstrate a winning attitude, we have a spot for you, no matter what your situation may be.”

There are set schedule options and no working on weekends. AmeriPride is also huge on promoting from within. “Nothing gives me more satisfaction than when we promote people,” says Rasmussen, who started as a temp.

“We have all levels of pay and great benefits. It’s unacceptable to us to know that there are people out there who are willing to work and feel they can’t find anything. They need to come work here. We’d love to give them a shot,” says Rasmussen.

AmeriPride Sustainability Practices

The Steiner family has made sustainability a priority and as a leader in the textile rental industry, they feel it’s their responsibility to test green technologies and initiatives. AmeriPride has received multiple awards and is recognized as an industry leader for their green initiatives, including electric, compressed natural gas, and propane trucks; solar power programs and water conservation.

AmeriPride Quality Commitment

AmeriPride also takes pride in their dedication and commitment to customers. One of the goals of the company for 2017 is “Market Leading Quality.” This means that production workers must have an eye for quality control and sub-par product is not allowed to make it to the customer.

Rasmussen routinely works the production line with his employees and started to notice the large amount of product that was being pulled as unfit for customers. “It’s a little painful to see all the product being pulled, but we’ve got to do it to be true to what we believe in,” he says.  All that attention to quality is paying off. Customer referrals are up and customer feedback has become incredibly positive.

AmeriPride Gives Back

While pulling of substandard inventory makes for happy customers, it also creates waste. AmeriPride implemented a creative solution: donate any slightly worn linens and uniforms to charitable organizations. Convoy of Hope is a regular recipient of these donations.

This strong commitment to employees, customers and community has led to longevity unmatched in the industry. AmeriPride is looking forward to the next 128 years of service to all these stakeholders and continuing to be the People You Can Count On.
