Many promises have been made on the campaign trail to the White House.

The New York Times breaks down the top five easiest and most difficult promises for President-elect Donald Trump to keep.

Two challenges for Trump are to prevent American companies from moving jobs to other countries and to revive American steel-making and coal-mining industries.

Trump cannot force companies that desire to move to other countries for higher profits to stay. According to the Times, Carrier pays workers at its Indiana factory an hourly wage of $23, which is about four times what it pays similar workers in Mexico. As for a revival in steel and coal, the article notes that productivity has increased in those industries and the numbers of employees are no longer needed – many jobs will not return.

As for the easier ones, Trump can allow for the Keystone Pipeline, which was blocked by the Obama administration, and he can reduce federal business and personal taxes. According to the Times, congressional Republicans have expressed support for a similar approach.
