Posted online
St. Louis aldermen on Friday afternoon gave final approval to a bill that would implement a minimum wage in the city.

The governing board voted 16-8 to pass the bill, and St. Louis Mayor  Francis Slay signed it immediately following the meeting.

While the law could face a legal challenge, it would institute a city minimum wage of $8.25 per hour on Oct. 15. It would then rise incrementally to $11 per hour on Jan. 1, 2018.
