Senate leader offers plan to fund government, fight Zika

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell introduced legislation yesterday that would attempt to avoid a government shutdown and provide funding to combat the Zika virus.

The Republican plan calls on keeping the government funded through Dec. 9 to avoid an Oct. 1 shutdown.

It also would provide $1.1 billion to fight Zika and another $500 million in immediate disaster aid to Louisiana and other flood-ravaged states.
