Columbia-based franchisee Bryan Leasure opened his second residential maid service, MaidPro of Springfield, June 15 at 3856 W. Chestnut Expressway. Organized under Columbia Franchising Group Inc., Leasure leases the 1,800-square-foot building from Young Jin Choe for $1,000 per month with an annual renewal option. Leasure estimated startup costs at $112,000, including a $22,000 franchise fee for the rights in Springfield. Hourly service rates range from $32 for weekly visits to $40 for a one-time clean. Leasure said the company also accepts light office cleaning jobs during daytime hours. Leasure said he hopes to expand the four-member Springfield staff, led by office manager Tom Hammond, to 40 employees within five years. Founded in Boston, MaidPro has over 150 offices nationwide. Shelby Solomon started website design and management firm Red Lake Studio on June 1 at 1722 S. Glenstone Ave., Ste. J-7, in Glenstone Square. Solomon said the company leases the roughly 500-square-foot office for undisclosed terms. Red Lake Studio builds, designs and manages mobile-friendly websites and cross-platform apps for small businesses and nonprofits. Design and build prices range from $1,000 for single webpages to $1,800 for commercial sites, plus management fees. Solomon employs a salesperson and Web developer on a contractual basis. Swann Dermatology LLC owner Dr. Michael Swann opened Springfield-based Swann Dermatology & Esthetics’ second clinic June 1 at 590 Birch St., Ste. 2C, in Hollister. Spokeswoman Kylee Morris said the company leases the 2,850-square-foot space from David Boothe for undisclosed terms. Startup costs were around $185,000, she said, noting services include skin cancer management, Mohs surgery, and cosmetic and laser dermatology. Office coordinator Chrissy McMurry said esthetician and registered nurse consultations are $50, and physician or physician assistant consultations are $100. Morris said the company shares 21 employees between the Hollister and Springfield clinics, with Michael’s father, Dr. James Swann, heading up the Hollister practice.
