Posted online
The Matt Miller Co. has purchased Joplin’s Christman building at the intersection of Fifth and Main streets in Joplin, along with four other surrounding buildings, from John Howsmon in a multimillion-dollar deal that includes 42,000 square feet of downtown real estate.

The Springfield-based company said in a news release that the deal closed Thursday.

The Matt Miller Co., which specializes in downtown renovations and has played a key role in the revival of Springfield’s center city, has plans to turn the building into“Main Street Place,” a multiuse development that will include 30 loft apartments, 1,800-square feet of retail frontage on Fifth and Main, 1,500-square feet of office space with front door parking and 6,000-square feet of restaurant space with a mezzanine banquet facility.

Miller said the restaurant would be filled with a “big name” to help anchor the development.[[In-content Ad]]
