Project description: According to Wal-Mart spokesman Dan Morales, Walmart Neighborhood Markets are designed for quick access to grocery items with wide aisles, spacious parking, easy check-outs and pharmacy drive-through lanes. The West El Camino Alto store is one of four being built in Springfield this year; two already have opened, and the Neighborhood Market at 3536 W. Mount Vernon St. is scheduled to be open by late fall, Morales said. The West El Camino Alto store, in James River Commons, will carry a full line of groceries, including produce, frozen foods, meat and dairy products, and organic items. Morales said Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to hire roughly 90 employees.
