Project description: The Republic School District is building a bus barn on 16 acres near the corner of Hines Street and Boston Lane, said spokeswoman Josie McPhail. She said the property purchased last year for $225,000 has direct access to multiple schools, as well as highways 60 and 174. Funded through an $8 million 2012 bond issue, Republic schools’ Operations Director Jason Perkins said the project comprises a fenced area and canopy for bus parking, a fuel island for 50 district buses and an office. The district serves five elementary schools, as well as the middle school and high school, according to RepublicSchools.org.
