Forecast for Greitens’ first fiscal year released

Posted online
Missouri’s general revenue is on the rise.

Gov. Eric Greitens, Senate Appropriations Chairman Dan Brown, R-Rolla, and House Budget Chairman Scott Fitzpatrick, R-Shell Knob, today released Missouri’s consensus revenue estimate for fiscal 2018.

For the fiscal year starting July 1, revenue is expected to be $9.4 billion. The annual CRE is formed by nonpartisan budget experts and third-party consultants, according to a news release.

The projected budget for Greitens’ first full fiscal year in office is 3 percent above Missouri’s revised fiscal 2017 forecast of $9.1 billion. The revised forecast was decreased from the previously projected $9.6 billion.

“As an outsider, I’m committed to changing the way business is done in Jefferson City,” Greitens said in the release. “For too long, government hasn’t been fiscally responsible or accountable. That changes now as we begin to fix the mistakes of the past and fight for you.”

Through December, Missouri’s fiscal 2017 revenue rose 2.2 percent to $4.3 billion compared with $4.2 billion at the same time in fiscal 2016, according to the state Office of Administration.
