A Chinese court convicted an American businesswoman of spying.
Sandy Phan-Gillis, a Houston, Texas, resident, has been ordered to serve three and a half years in prison and face deportation.
Phan-Gillis pleaded guilty to espionage charges in a closed court hearing in the southern Chinese city of Nanning.
She worked as a consultant for Houston businesses interested in Chinese customers and investment, as well as for Chinese businesses interested in Texas.
