Boeing develops laser cannon to combat drones

Posted online
Boeing has developed a portable laser cannon system to help fight the rising threat of drones.

Citing a Wired magazine article, the St. Louis Business Journal reports Boeing built a system able to keep drones from entering sensitive areas.

The cannon can cause a drone to burst into flames in as little as two seconds.

"No explosions, no visible beam. It's more like burning ants with a really, really expensive magnifying glass than obliterating Alderaan," Wired writes.
