Blues to get $16.6M thanks to NHL expansion

The St. Louis Blues are set to receive $16.6 million after the National Hockey League Wednesday added a Las Vegas team in the 2017-18 season.
 
The Las Vegas franchise, the first added to the NHL since 1997, paid $500 million to the league, which was distributed evenly between the current 30 teams.
 
The Blues could utilize their allotment in a few pending projects, including a planned $35 million practice facility in Maryland Heights or a possible $138 million renovation job on the Scottrade Center.
