Amazon bans Apple TV, Google Chromecast

Posted online
Amazon plans to soon remove Apple TV and Google Chromecast streaming media devices from its online shopping platform, as well as prohibit new listings for the products.

The devices do now allow customers to watch Amazon's Prime video streaming service.

Amazon will allow other competitors to its Fire TV and Fire Stick to keep selling on the website. Roku, Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation, for example, allow customers to stream Prime videos.

"It's important that the streaming media players we sell interact well with Prime Video in order to avoid customer confusion," Amazon officials said in a statement.
