Alibaba hires ex-Goldman Sachs exec to lead globalization strategy

Chinese e-commerce and entertainment giant Alibaba Group has hired Canadian former Olympic champion and ex-Goldman Sachs executive Michael Evans.

A former Goldman Sachs partner, Evans is tasked with leading Alibaba's international expansion strategy outside of China, according to Reuters.

Evans will stay on as a member of the Alibaba board, for which he has been an independent director since the company's initial public offering in September 2014.
